I am a graduate of Georgia College & State University where I received a bachelors in Public Relations. I worked for a couple years and began attending college again in July 2014 with the goal of applying to veterinary school. I was able to complete my prerequisite courses with a 4.0 GPA at Clemson University. I have been admitted to UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine and will attend with the desire to attend a lab animal residency program post-DVM.
My passion for lab animal medicine can be summarized through a conversation I had with a lab animal veterinarian who was involved in research that resulted in the development of Tamoxifen, a popular breast cancer medication on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines. Whenever this person has a bad day, she can regain her motivation by reflecting on the thousands of lives that drug has saved. I want to work in a profession where my contributions can better the human condition and make an impact on people's lives. I believe that lab animal medicine is such a profession.
