Summer Give Back
May 31,2016Why not spend half of your summer giving back not only will you gain Service points but it’s a great way to make a difference in someone’s life. If you’re looking for an adventure look into volunteering abroad allowing you to experience a new country and culture while giving back. For those not looking for such a “large adventure” consider volunteering in maybe a different state allowing you to get out of your comfort zone. New York offers great volunteering opportunities as well as New Jersey; you can find numerous volunteering projects by doing a simple search on Google. Volunteering is something that people either do for just Service points and some do it because that’s what they love. For me volunteering has always been a huge part of my life and it holds a special place in my heart along with being one of my biggest passions. Having an older brother with Special Needs I grew up watching my parents work with him as his volunteer coach and knew once I got of age I too wanted to follow that same path. I have now been working for five years as my older brother’s volunteer coach and it was of greatest passions and something that I look forward to every year. Volunteering provides a feeling that cannot be described until you’ve experienced it, watching the joy that comes from others when you’re giving back makes you realize that it’s the small things in life that count. Coming from experience once you participate in any form of volunteering you don’t just gain “Service points” but gain a sense of gratification and peace of mind knowing that change one if not several individual’s lives just by taking the time to give back. While you may be saying in your head well I’m not sure if volunteering is the path for me just give a chance and I promise you it will be a life changing experience.
