My Life as a Student

Dear Members,

Everyone knows that the immigrant life is hard in many ways. I came from Cuba 6 years ago, since then I have been more than involved in the USA life system. It has been a struggle to get used to the new educational programs and each rule but I have done it pretty well.

I consider myself as an assertive and persuasive person; I have a strong need in getting things done because I am a dedicated person who feels the necessity of accomplishment, thus I am always willing to take risks. I am empathetic and flexible, as well as solid in interpersonal skills. I normally feel able to bring others to my point of view, my coworkers and classmates feel supported when they have a difficult situation and they talk with me about it. I have learned from adversity and carry on and no matter if I have a bad day, I will always show a good attitude to the individuals that surround me. My bachelor's career in Health Services Administration aided in my team-building leadership style, problem solving and decision making skills. All these abilities and personal qualities provide the urge I take in chasing a new vocation. 

COLLEGE STUDENT

Throughout my college life I have managed to have a broader perception of academic, social and personal level. These years have shown me that I do what I want and what I love; because before seeking an economic incentive for me and my family subsistence, I seek my happiness and good training, which is paramount; that education is what consolidates us as an impartial society, since it means not learn to learn, but actually learning to learn; not dogmatism, but tolerance; not the job training, but training for employability; not terminal education, but continuing education.

College students have in our hands a great responsibility to educate ourselves, this responsibility comes with dedication and discipline.

University systems generally favor the development of a critical, alternative, and capable thinking, depending on the active professional profile sought.

FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

Florida National University gave me the opportunity to pursue this amazing career (Health Services Administration), just in the perfect moment since I had lost a year and a half of studies. I was completely wrapped up in a depression crisis and the admission and financial aid staffs open my mind and heart toward a college life.

Health Services Administration BS program caught me since the beginning. I see myself planning, and coordinating medical and health services and I hope to manage an entire facility one day in the near future. I feel extremely proud of my accomplishments.

THE SCHOLARSHIP

Employed while in college is the number one reason people drop out. Devising a scholarship that pays for my education and/or living costs can essentially decrease the risk of dropping out and not obtaining the degree I want. By decreasing financial worries, scholarships can also mean more time for studying and book learning, which can lead to improved scores and retention of facts and rise chances for continuing on to graduate school. Earning a prestigious or merit-based scholarship can truly make you a more attractive job nominee. Competitive scholarships are accomplishments worth listing on resume and help you stand out when you search for a job -- possibly helping you achieve the career you want.

Sharing this personal article with all members and staff makes me proud of who I am today and I encourage everyone out there to follow your dreams because everything you can imagine would be possible to accomplish if you set your own determination.

I enjoy writing. It is something fun to express all your feelings and thoughts on a piece of paper. It brings out my creativity.
