Personal Statement: Master of Professional Accounting
Aug 03,2016My interest in Master of Professional Accounting dates back to my 7 months’ certificate program in Accounting Technology, and actual knowledge that I have acquired during my Bookkeeping position at the Freight Forwarding company where I currently work. I came from Cuba 6 years ago, so my high school diploma was awarded in my home country, where I graduated with satisfactory grades, A+. Math and all Science subjects has always been my passion. I am the kind of person who loves the power of learning, having or showing experience, knowledge, and good judgment. I choose Health Services Administration as soon as I finish high school because it is related with business and charitable purposes within the field of health. I feel identified toward individuals with health conditions, so I had to blend business with this feeling.
When I began my undergraduate career, I was exposed to lots of new experiences since I choose a fully online major. Online classes feel so lonely most of the time. There is no face to face interaction with teachers and classmates. I had to be extremely responsible to get an organized schedule between my full time job and university chores. I have to work harder to achieve good grades. It was a difficult beginning until I realize that when you study from home and in front of the computer you have to be prepared for long readings during several hours, not only with books but on the internet and force yourself to visit the libraries. I was not prepared for this as I always found reading as a boring thing. The numbers for me were always the most fun. When I took the accounting credits I was so excited, finally some numbers among many letters. These accounting classes were really helpful in my professional performance where I currently work; it gave me some concepts and practical information I did not know before. All of which tended to reinforce and solidify my intense interest in accounting. After that I have had opportunity to participate in QuickBooks seminars. I stated to get more involved with payroll taxes liabilities and I also took some courses of accounting where I learned about bank account reconciliation.
I strongly believe that this career I'm almost finished will help me for my future studies. I did not change my mind about this major because it provides me a new and different perspective. No matter what new range I would choose because this major is wide in terms of law, medicine, insurance, business administration, accounting, concepts of ethics and professionalism, among many other terms that can be applied in any field.
Regarding my intention to chase a new career, Master of Professional Accounting, I can tell that it would be a pleasure to be part of a new respectful university and I am pretty sure I will earn this Master with eyes closed since I feel that I have the professional experience I need and the interest and dedication that every university needs from a new student. I hope somebody give me the source of pride of enduring my education at a fine institution.
