Perfectly Plan It!
May 31,2015I always look forward to shopping for school supplies (don’t judge me, I’m a self-proclaimed nerd). I was always that kid that looked forward to the day in elementary school when we would receive our school supply lists. Now that college does not provide one, I sometimes go a little overboard. One of items that is always on my list is a new agenda. I absolutely LOVE having an agenda! I love having my life all planned out in a neat and orderly way. While I know that summer has just begun and school is far in the future, it is always a beneficial idea to start getting organized. An agenda can be just as beneficial during summer as during the school year for keeping up with events and appointments. Today, I will be explaining how I usually set up my agenda, and give you some ideas on how to get organized.
My agenda is set up in a way that I can keep all of my classes, organizations, and other obligations in order. One thing that helps with this is different colored pens. I love gel pens or Papermate Flair pens to help with this. I assign each of my classes a certain color (which usually adds to about five to six colors), and I set aside different colors for each of my organizations. I also make sure to have enough colors set aside for family events, doctor or other important appointments, and general school events. The different colors not only make each task and appointment stand out, they also help me to better remember what I am supposed to do that day. As for my general agenda setup, I get an agenda that has both a monthly and weekly layout. In the monthly layout, I put all appointments, events, tests, quizzes, and other major projects that I have to keep track of; this allows me to see just how busy my month is going to be. As for the weekly layout, I include all homework for that given day. If there are any other tasks that I have to complete, I write them on a sticky note and attach it near the day that I need to complete it by. This setup makes my agenda seem like a diary; I can look back on a certain day or month and see what I was doing that day.
As for the type of agenda you want to use, well, that is up to you and your preferences. While I love my laptop and iPad, I prefer to write things down, whether it be my class notes or my weekly tasks. If you are like me and like to write things down, a physical agenda is best for you. For the girls, the brands Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade have cute agendas that are also functional. For the guys, Moleskine has some pretty cool and functional ones. Of course, you can always use your cell phone or tablet to keep up with your life. Find the method that works for you and use it to your advantage. I hope this article has given you some inspiration for organizing your life!
