My Swedish Roots and American Wings

When I made the decision to study abroad in Sweden, I remember everyone asking me questions such as: “Why Sweden?” or “Have you seen Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?” No, I have not seen Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but when I visited Stockholm, Sweden’s capital city, I did get to visit some of the sites where Lisbeth Salander made her unforgettable marks on the movie industry.
To answer the first question, though, I knew I wanted to study abroad in Sweden since before I enrolled as a student at Keene State College. I didn’t want to do what I thought everyone else was doing, such as study abroad in Italy for the warm beach weather or study abroad in the United Kingdom. I wanted to study abroad in Sweden because it provided me with the perfect excuse to not only have unforgettable lifetime adventures, but also to learn about my cultural heritage and connect with my long lost family.
