Over the past months, the drought in Kenya has worsened and the number of the food insecure population will surpass 1.5 million people. The American Red Cross is assisting the global Red Cross with food assistance young children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
The population of those affected by the floods in Mozambique and Malawi combined is about 782,000. Many have been displaced from their homes. Red Cross efforts for this area include food distribution and water sanitation materials.
An estimated 12.2 million people in Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance. 7.6 million displaced people are especially at risk of illness and disease. The Red Cross contribution will support food assistance to those in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey.
