Habits of the Wealthiest People
Mar 25,2016Do you know you have what it takes to have financial success, but aren’t sure what’s keeping you away from being considered a wealthy person? Researchers have studied the rich for years, and many of their takeaways has to do with the fact that they all seem to have the same habits. Below are the habits of the wealthiest people so you can start adding these into your routine and how you can incorporate them into your life as a college student or young professional.
Mornings
1. They wake up 3+ hours before work
You’ve been sleeping in ever since you mastered the art of avoiding all 8 am classes in your schedule, right? Well, instead of sleeping in, try waking up 1 hour early for starters and you’ll see how much more productive you can be and how good it feels to not have to rush to class.
2. They listen to audio books during their commute
If you don’t have much of a commute, another good opportunity to listen to audio books is to play it while you’re getting ready in the morning or when you’re cooking breakfast. Not sure where to find audio books? You can try a free trail of Audible.
3. They exercise in the morning
If you exercise in the morning, it means that you don’t have to think about it (or dread about it) the rest of the day. It also lessens that chance of you missing you’re workout at the end of the day because you’re too tired. If you need an extra boost of motivation, sign up for classes that have a fee for canceling at the last minute.
Goal Setting
They write down their goals
Take some time before you head to bed to write down your goals for the next day. It’s also important to create some long term goals that you keep visiting and checking of your list.
2. They focus on accomplishing a specific goal
Focus on a goal that’s truly meaningful to you and make sure that you take one action every day that brings you closer to this goal.
3. They believe in lifelong educational self improvement
Even if you have just graduated, sign up for a class after work on that subject you always wanted to learn more about. It could even be online. Still don’t know how to cook? Take a cooking class. If you feel like you don’t have time for this, just 30 minutes of reading a personal development book can make all of the difference.
4. They believe good habits create opportunity
Even when you aren’t motivated to keep up with your new good habits, hang onto the belief that doing them will create new opportunities
5. They believe bad habits have a negative impact
Knowing that the bad habits you’ve had for years isn’t being conducive to your success, is enough to replace them with the old.
Community
They network 5+ times per month
Attend club fairs on campus or join a new organization. If you’ve moved to a new city, join clubs like alumnae clubs or professional organizations for your industry.
Lifestyle
They read at least 30 minutes a day
Whether it’s in the morning or before bed, block of 30 minutes a day to read something that does not have to do with your studies. You can even set a timer if you want, you’ll see that you really do have the time to read.
2. They exercise aerobically 4 days per week
To make sure that you aren’t missing any workouts, aim to do them first thing in the morning. If you’re not a member of a gym, you can stream workouts online through subscription services or even for free on YouTube.
3. They watch one hour or less of television every day
Replace 30 minutes of that TV time with your new habit of 30 minutes of reading.
