Do Not Let Failure Hold You Back

Jul 30,2017

We all want to do something important. We all want to accomplish our goals. We all want to be successful. However, we do not want to experience rejection. We do not want to fail. Failure holds so many people back daily, from accomplishing impressive goals. Failure is seen as something negative, instead of helpful. Why, though? Why are we held back by the fear of failure and making mistakes? Why should we be frightened of rejection? Many successful people would not have been successful without failure. The people who we look up to now experienced failure more than once. Joanne Rowling, author of Harry Potter, may seem like someone who always been successful, however, that is not the case. She was homeless while writing Harry Potter at a local coffee shop, and her manuscript of Harry Potter got rejected from twelve different publishers. Later, Harry Potter became a best-selling book and was translated in 68 languages! Even though Joanne Rowling went through a tough time and failed, she did not give up and continued to believe in herself, fearless of rejection.

"Failure gave me an inner security that I had never attained by passing examinations. Failure taught me things about myself that I

could have learned no other way. I discovered that I had a strong will, and more discipline than I had suspected; I also found out that I

had friends whose value was truly above the price of rubies." - J.K Rowling.

When we hear the name Albert Einstein, we may automatically think of him as a genius, gifted, or even a prodigy. However, he did not speak fluently until nine and was labeled as dumb and lazy. He was later expelled from school for his rebellious behavior. Albert then became interested in science and understanding the world. He began using his interest in science to develop the theory of General Relativity. His research later encouraged the U.S to build an atomic bomb. With his dedication and hard work, he won a Nobel Prize.

"Learned from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning."- Albert Einstein

Joanne Rowling and Albert Einstein, are not the only inspiring people who became successful from their failures, Walt Disney also did. Walt Disney became known for his excellent motion-picture production companies. Before becoming successful, Disney was laid off from a Missouri newspaper for "not being creative enough." His business called, Laugh-O-gram Studios, sadly ended up going bankrupt. Disney kept working and ended up being nominated for fifty-nine Academy Awards, winning thirty-two of them. He currently holds a record for the most Oscars won by an individual, according to WaltDisney.com.

"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney

Without failure, none of these inspiring people could have been successful. Instead of fearing failure or rejection, let's take the risk. Like Albert Einstein once said, "Only those who attempt the absurd can achieve the impossible." So go ahead apply to your dream school, follow your goals, believe in yourself, and most of all, Do Not Give Up! Instead of avoiding failure from now on, take the risk. We will never know what will happen without taking the chance. Do not let failure hold you back from becoming something wonderful.
