Daniela Ruiz: My Study Abroad Scholarship!
Dec 10,2015
Health in the context of Italian culture is a study abroad program that combines my passions for health and the law. Particularly, the effect that an easily accessible health care system can have on the quality of life of an average individual. This program outlines the advantages of publicly funded healthcare systems, in contrasts to privately funded. Not only is quality of life and life expectancy greater, but the average per capita spent on an individual is lower, which in turn leaves a lot of extra revenue to focus on other equally important aspects of health, such as research or infrastructure. This program continues to prove that in order to strengthen a country, it is essential to begin at the foundation, which is ensuring a healthy and productive life. This program shows me that average income, the place you are born in, or your social status are not predicative of the type of life you will lead. Most of all it proves that not only human compassion, but solidarity build a strong foundation to benefit the lives of an entire nation.
