Ever since I was a little boy I’ve always liked cars and racing. To me, they were the most fun as a toy because I could imagine myself to be the driver of that beautiful piece of machinery and technology one day. I like everything about cars, from the complicated mechanical nature to the thrill of driving itself. The more I learned about automotive engineering, the more satisfied and settled I became that this is what I will devote my life for. I was raised in Giza, Egypt, surrounded by a hard-working, caring family. I guess you can say my dad gave me his eyes. He taught everything and wanted me to be the best. He encouraged me to join STEM high school in Egypt, a school for the most elite students. I did my very best preparing until I got accepted among 149 others from a couple of thousand applicants. My dad did not stop there. He wanted me to get the best higher education abroad. I got admitted to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. There, I started my dream of becoming an engineer, studying the thing I love, mechanical engineering. UNL gave me the opportunity to be involved and get closer to my major. In my freshman year, I joined clubs like Baja Club (contributed in building an off-road, racing buggy), eSAB (Engineering Student Advisory Board), and Formula SAE. I am a fast learner and an accurate writer, with a very keen eye for detail. My first job was at Cycle Works, a cycle shop where dealt with assembly, maintenance and repairs of bikes. My favorite hobbies are swimming, running and watching car shows (watched every single episode of Top Gear). Finally, I am seeking an internship in the field of mechanical/automotive engineering to help me release my abilities and serve as a firm foundation for a fruitful engineering career.
